Frankfurt Airport and 2nd flight 8/19

Frankfurt airpot

Stood in line to get off the plane, then down 3 corridors to stand in line for them to look at our passports. Then down an escalator, and through several more corridors just to go back up an escalator. Then we weaved through a maze of stores and hallways always following signs that said terminal A departures. We were denied entry 2 times and asked to proceed further down because it was 'less crowded'. After getting checked in through their first class entry (even though we were economy).... It happened.

Kait's tale:
We were separated into two lines. I was told to go to the furthest line to the right, beside the wall. Luggage passed through once....made me take out my I Paderewski, went through again. They started talking rapid German and asked me to open my one bag. They confiscated my power strip and 2 uniformed men escorted me to a white room, where I had to wait for another security personal. This man wiped down my power strip muttered a dismissal and left me. I waited for a long time at the duty free area past the security checkpoint for Alli, but she never came. I kept scanning the crowds and muttering hail mary's to myself over and over. When I saw a clock I became worried about the flight and wondered if Alli headed to the gate after we were separated I started down the corridor towards the gate and it was soooo long, then the farther I walked the more worried I became. Stopping every minute to turn around and scan the crowd for Alli. Hives flaring I made it to the gate, but the flight was moved, grabbed a luggage cart at this point and doubled back to the new gate. No Alli. Then backtracked further, tears welling up in my eyes, panic mounting, hives growing deeper. Finally I caught sight of her, and her of me at the same time. She had the same look of terror that I felt on my face, and instant gratitude and relief at the sight of my best friend washed over me. We hugged each other tightly and laughed and cried. Alli got us water, while I sat with our bags and shook off the shock.

Allis's tale
(to be continued)

We boarded the flight from Frankfurt to Madrid. Our seats were across the isle from each other. We were exhausted, we didn't sleep well on the last flight and only took short naps on this one. The food was ok, but appetite were minimal.

We are grateful for each other, and grateful that we now have emergency plans in place.
